Position Summary
The Materials Science & Analysis Internship offers hands-on experience working alongside RJ Lee Group's analytical scientists in one of the most well-equipped microscopy laboratories in the country. Interns contribute to real client projects by applying the scientific method to assist in items ranging from failure analysis to materials characterization.Key Responsibilities
- Assist scientists with sample preparation including the use of novel instrumentation.
- Evaluate prepared samples using both optical and electron microscopy for composition, shape, and size
- Independently work to develop software to interpret microscopy results.
- Conduct literature reviews to support ongoing materials research projects.
- Support RJLG Materials Group client work on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (at least 2 years completed)
- Familiarity with laboratory environments and analytical techniques preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise technical procedures
- Ability to work independently on research projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Some coding experience required
- Must be able to work onsite during the internship period
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Internship Duration
- Start Date: May or June
- End Date: End of summer (flexible based on academic schedules)
- Full-time or part-time schedule options depending on department needs
